We are Seventh-day Adventists, and of this name we are never to be ashamed. As a people we must take a firm stand for truth and righteousness. Thus we shall glorify God. We are to be delivered from dangers, not ensnared and corrupted by them. That this may be, we must look ever to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. - - Letter 106, 1903. Selected Messages, Book 2, page 384, paragraph 2 |
Mission of he church: "In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining wonderful light from the word of God. They have been given a work of the most solemn import — the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels’ messages. There is no other work of so great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention." { 9T 19.1}
In Testimonies to Ministers, page 41 we find, "God has a people which all heaven is interested, and they are the one object on earth dear to the heart of God. . .
God has a church, but it is the church militant, not the church triumphant. We are sorry that there are defective members, that there are tares amid the wheat. Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way . . . The servants of the household came and said to him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in the field? For whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. . .
Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”
In the parable of the wheat and the tares, we see the reason why the tares were not to be plucked up; it was lest the wheat be uprooted with the tares. Human opinion and judgment would make grave mistakes. But rather than have a mistake made, and one single blade of wheat rooted up, the Master says, “Let both grow together until the harvest” then the angels will gather out the tares, which are appointed to destruction." God gives us a love of the truth (2 Thessalonians 2: 10); and if we reject this gift we put ourselves in great peril. Let us dig for truth and dig deeper still, knowing that the mine will produce priceless gems. To those searching for truth we present this website. May the Holy Spirit guide you on your journey.
