Who is God?

Who  is  God?      How  does  He Operate?   by Ted Robertson on Nov. 27, 2010

God is the Creator and he Created us in His Image

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.              Genesis 1:26-27

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?

He that formed the eye, shall he not see?                Psalms 94:9

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,

the LORD hath made even both of them.                Proverbs 20:12

Know ye that the LORD he is God:

it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.          Psalms 100:3

God is emotional and responsive to humanity

God Can Cheer Us Up

And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.  Acts 23:11

God Can Help Us

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.          Psalms 30:10

God Can Be Our Guide

For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.      Psalms 48:14

God Can Become Angry

Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

Then stood up Phin'ehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.        Psalms 106:29-31

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.        Psalms 103:8-9

God Can Laugh and Mock

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.            Psalms 2:4-5

But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.          Psalms 59:8

God is Capable of Repenting and Changing His Mind

And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.  So the people of Nin'eveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

For word came unto the king of Nin'eveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nin'eveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.       Jonah 3:4-10

God also Grieves and Regrets

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. Genesis 6:5-6

Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

and said, Where have ye laid him? They say unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!      John 11:32-36

God  is  the  Highest

God's Ways are Perfect

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried:

he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.      Psalms 18:30

God's Works are Great, and His Thought and Ways are Very Deep

For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

O LORD, how great are thy works!  And thy thoughts are very deep.        Psalms 92:4-5

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.     Isaiah 55:8-9

God is Most High Forever

but thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. Psalms 92:8

God is Everywhere

The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.  From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

He fashioneth their hearts alike;he considereth all their works.       Psalms 33:13-15

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.      Proverbs 15:3

God is All Powerful

The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.  Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.     Psalms 97:1-6

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.       Matthew 28:18

God is with us and is our Redeemer

God is Always With Us

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Joshua 1:5

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.       Matthew 28:19-20

God Is Our Redeemer

And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent,

Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.          Genesis 3:13-15

As for our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 47:4

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!       John 1:29

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears.    Luke 4:16-21

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.    John 3:16-17

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.     Revelation 12:11

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.     Revelation 13:8

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.    Revelation 17:12-14
