Financial Tips from Solomon

                    f i n a n c i a l     t i p s     f r o m     s o l o m o n                              

                                   beware  of  the  wrong  kind  of  gain

                        “Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.”  Proverbs 1.19

                                      honor  god  with  your  wealth

                         “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”  Proverbs 3.9-10

                                  Watch  out  for  laziness

                         “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes  rich.  He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.”  Proverbs 10.4-5

 

                         “I went past the field for a sluggard, past the vineyard of someone who has no sense;  thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins. I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw:  A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.”  Proverbs 24.30-34

                         [Note: Solomon was a careful observer of the things he saw, which probably explains some of where his wisdom came from.]

                                  put  your  trust  in  the  right  place

                         “Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.”  Proverbs 11.28

                         “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”  Proverbs 16.3

     # 5

                               listen   to   counsel

                         “Poverty and disgrace come to him who ignores instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is honored.”  Proverbs 13.18

     # 6

                          beware  of  mistreating  others

                         “Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.”  Proverbs 22.16

     # 7

                         go  easy  with  self - indulgence

                         “The drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.”  Proverbs 23.21

     # 8

                        never  fall  in  love  with  money

                         “He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who  loves wealth with his income…”  Ecclesiastes 5.10

     # 9

                           diversify  your  portfolio

                         “Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.”  Ecclesiastes 11.2
